Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare your baking dish by greasing it lightly with butter or oil.
  2. Peel and slice the sweet potatoes into thin, even rounds. Boil them in water for 10–15 minutes until fork-tender, then drain.
  3. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sweet potato slices evenly at the bottom.
  4. Sprinkle half of the cranberries over the first layer of sweet potatoes.
  5. In a medium bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Pour half over the layered ingredients.
  6. Repeat the layering process with remaining sweet potatoes, cranberries, and pour the remaining cream mixture over the top.
  7. Sprinkle Gruyère cheese and breadcrumbs over the top. Bake for 30–35 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
