Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, combine blackberries, sugar, water, lemon juice, ground cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, salt, and sugar. Cut in unsalted butter until crumbly. Stir in buttermilk to form a shaggy dough.
  3. Drop spoonfuls of dumpling dough onto the simmering blackberry sauce. Cover and reduce heat to low. Cook for 12-14 minutes.
