Ingredients
  

For the Filling
  • 1 pound Ground beef Substitute with turkey or plant-based meat if desired.
  • 1 Onion, diced Yellow or sweet onions for milder taste.
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced Garlic powder can be used if fresh is unavailable.
  • 15 ounces Ricotta cheese Cottage cheese or dairy-free alternative can be used.
  • 2 cups Shredded mozzarella cheese Provolone can be used for sharper flavor.
  • ¼ cup Grated Parmesan cheese Optional but recommended for depth.
For the Sauce
  • 1 can Diced tomatoes Fresh tomatoes can be substituted.
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato paste Intensifies flavor and thickens the sauce.
  • 1 teaspoon Dried oregano Can use Italian seasoning as a substitute.
  • 1 teaspoon Dried basil Essential for a classic taste.
  • Salt and pepper To taste.
For the Layers
  • 3-4 sheets Lasagna sheets No-boil varieties save time.
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil Can substitute with avocado or canola oil.

Method
 

Directions
  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, about 7–10 minutes.
  2. Add diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  3. Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, and basil. Season with salt and pepper, then simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese with salt and pepper. Add grated Parmesan if desired.
  5. Layer lasagna sheets in the skillet, spread half of the ricotta mixture, and then half of the meat sauce.
  6. Add more lasagna sheets, remaining ricotta, and top with the remaining meat sauce.
  7. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the top and any remaining Parmesan.
  8. Cover the skillet and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 30 minutes until cheese is bubbly.
  9. Remove from heat and let rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
