Step-by-Step Instructions for Italian Meatloaf
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray a 7”x11” (2-quart) baking pan with cooking spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground protein with breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic, onion, and eggs. Add 1 cup of marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix gently without overmixing.
  3. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking pan and press it evenly into the corners.
  4. Top the meat mixture with the remaining ½ cup of marinara sauce and sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the top.
  5. Bake uncovered for 50-60 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 160°F and the outside is golden brown.
  6. Let the meatloaf rest for 10-20 minutes before slicing to allow juices to redistribute.
