Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, Chinese five-spice powder, and sesame oil. Whisk until well-blended.
- Place chicken thighs into a large resealable bag and pour half of the marinade over them. Seal and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- Reserve the remaining marinade in an airtight container for later use.
- About 30 minutes before cooking, remove chicken from the fridge to allow it to reach room temperature.
- Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and arrange the chicken thighs on it, spaced apart.
- Bake the chicken for 25-30 minutes until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Pour the reserved marinade into a saucepan and heat until boiling, then simmer for 5-7 minutes until thickened.
- Broil the chicken for 2-3 minutes after brushing with the thickened marinade.
- Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
