Ingredients
  

For the Meat Sauce
  • 1 pound Ground Beef use lean ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian Sausage choose sweet or hot
  • 28 oz Crushed Tomatoes canned
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato Paste
  • 1 medium Yellow Onion finely chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp Sugar optional
For the Cheese Mixture
  • 1.5 cups Ricotta Cheese whole milk preferred
  • 1 large Egg optional for dairy-free
  • 0.25 cups Fresh Parsley chopped
  • 0.5 cups Grated Parmesan Cheese
For the Assembly
  • 3 cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese fresh preferred
  • 9 sheets Lasagna Noodles oven-ready recommended

Method
 

Directions
  1. Brown the meat by cooking ground beef and Italian sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned.
  2. Sauté chopped onion and minced garlic in the same skillet until translucent.
  3. Simmer the sauce with tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, salt, black pepper, and sugar, stirring occasionally for 30-40 minutes.
  4. Prepare the cheese mixture by combining ricotta, beaten egg, chopped parsley, and grated Parmesan until creamy.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare an 8x12-inch baking dish.
  6. Layer the lasagna by spreading meat sauce, adding noodles, cheese mixture, and mozzarella, repeating until ingredients are finished.
  7. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes to meld layers.
  8. Uncover and bake for another 15-20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  9. Let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing to set layers for serving.
