Directions
- In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and allow the mixture to sit for about 10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the yogurt and oil. Pour in the activated yeast mixture and mix until incorporated.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
- Place the kneaded dough into a lightly oiled bowl and cover it with a damp cloth. Allow it to rise for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Once risen, punch the dough down and divide it into eight equal parts. Roll each piece into an oval shape approximately 8 inches long.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and lightly grease it. Place one rolled naan in the skillet and cook for about 1 minute or until bubbles form. Flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
- Mix melted butter with minced garlic and brush over the cooked naan. Garnish with chopped cilantro or parsley, if using.
