  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract Almond extract can be substituted
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon Can add nutmeg for spice
  • 2 tablespoons Melted Butter For apple filling

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Make the pastry by combining flour, salt, and sugar in a food processor. Add butter and pulse until coarse crumbs form. Gradually add ice water until the dough holds together.
  2. Shape the dough into a disk and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Prepare apples by peeling and thinly slicing them. Toss with lemon juice and mix with sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and melted butter.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F (180ºC). Roll out chilled dough and transfer to tart pan. Fill with prepared apple mixture and brush with any remaining butter-sugar mixture.
  5. Bake for 55-65 minutes until apples are tender and crust is golden brown. Let cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.
