  • 14 oz Firm or extra-firm tofu Freezing and thawing improves texture.
  • 1/2 cup Cornstarch Essential for crispy coating.
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder Enhances flavor.
  • 1/2 tsp Salt Adjust to taste.
For the Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Soy sauce/Tamari/Coconut aminos Tamari for gluten-free.
  • 1/2 cup Orange juice Freshly squeezed is best.
  • 2 tbsp Sugar Adjust to taste.
For Cooking
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable oil Optional; for frying.

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Drain the tofu and press between paper towels for about 15 minutes.
  2. Cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes.
  3. Mix cornstarch, garlic powder, and salt in a bowl. Toss tofu cubes until coated.
  4. Choose cooking method: Fry in 2 tbsp of oil for 5-7 minutes, bake at 400°F for 25 minutes, or air fry at 375°F for 18-22 minutes.
  5. Prepare sauce by combining orange juice, soy sauce, and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. Toss crispy tofu with the orange sauce in a large bowl until well coated. Serve warm over rice or quinoa.
