  • 1 medium Onion finely chopped
  • 1 medium Green Bell Pepper diced
  • 1 stalk Celery diced, optional
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced
For the Spice Mix
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun/Creole Seasoning adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Thyme or fresh, adjusted
  • 0.25 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper adjust based on spice tolerance
  • 1 leaf Bay Leaf remove before serving
For the Sauce
  • 1 cup Tomato Sauce or crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup Water or vegetable broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce or soy sauce for gluten-free
For the Stars
  • 1 pound Large Shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • to taste Tabasco Sauce or favorite hot sauce
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Freshly Ground Black Pepper

Method
 

Cooking Steps
  1. Heat the oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat until bubbly, about 1–2 minutes.
  2. Add onion, green bell pepper, and celery to the skillet. Sauté for 10–12 minutes until very soft.
  3. Stir in garlic, Cajun/Creole seasoning, thyme, cayenne pepper, and bay leaf. Sauté for an additional minute.
  4. Incorporate tomato sauce, water, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a rapid boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 8–10 minutes.
  5. Add shrimp to the sauce, cook for about 1–2 minutes until opaque and firm.
  6. Remove bay leaf, season with Tabasco, salt, and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve immediately over rice, garnish with parsley and lemon wedges.
