  • 2 cups Chicken Broth Vegetable broth for vegetarian option
For the Meats
  • 4 strips Turkey Bacon Regular bacon can be used
  • 1 cup Beef Sausage Can substitute with andouille or chorizo
  • 1 pound Shrimp Peeled and deveined
For the Aromatics
  • 1 medium Onion Chopped
  • 1 medium Bell Pepper Chopped
  • 2 stalks Celery Chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic Minced
For the Spice Blend
  • 1 tbsp Cajun Seasoning Adjust based on heat preference
  • 1 tsp Smoked Paprika
  • 1 tsp Dried Thyme Fresh thyme can also be used
  • 1/4 tsp Cayenne Adjust based on heat preference
For the Finish
  • 2 tbsp Green Onions Chopped
  • 2 tbsp Parsley Chopped

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Rinse rice under cold water until clear and toast in a dry skillet for 3–4 minutes until golden.
  2. Sauté onion, bell pepper, and celery in oil for 5–7 minutes until soft; add minced garlic and cook 1 more minute.
  3. Add turkey bacon and beef sausage, cooking for 6–8 minutes until browned and crispy.
  4. Mix in toasted rice and pour in chicken broth; bring to boil then simmer for 15–18 minutes until liquid is absorbed.
  5. Add shrimp seasoned with salt and pepper in the last few minutes; cook until pink and opaque, then fold into rice.
  6. Let rest for 2 minutes, garnish with green onions and parsley, serve warm with lime wedges.
