Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • spatula
  • Plastic wrap

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large skillet, heat over medium heat and add the ground beef. Cook for about 5–7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula, until it’s browned and no longer pink.
  2. Sprinkle the taco seasoning over the browned beef and mix well. Follow the package instructions, usually cooking for an additional 2–3 minutes.
  3. While the beef cooks, wash and chop the iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, and onion. In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and chopped onion.
  4. Once the beef mixture has cooled slightly, add it to the bowl with the vegetables. Toss everything together gently until well combined.
  5. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate the salad for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Just before serving, drizzle the Catalina dressing over the chilled salad and fold in the crushed Doritos gently.
  7. Transfer the Dorito Taco Salad to a large serving bowl or individual plates. Garnish with additional chopped tomatoes or cheese if desired.
