Method
 

Candle Cakes Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour your cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and mix in the milk and vanilla extract. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until smooth.
  3. Pour the prepared batter evenly into your greased cake pans, filling each about two-thirds full. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  4. Remove the cake pans from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack for about 10 minutes. Invert them onto the rack to cool completely.
  5. In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and powdered sugar until fluffy. Add milk as needed for consistency and incorporate food coloring.
  6. Place one layer of cake on a serving platter, spread frosting on top, add the second layer, and ice the entire cake with the remaining frosting.
  7. Insert edible candles into the top of the cake and sprinkle with decorations like chocolate shavings or colorful sprinkles.
