Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, combine vegetable broth, light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, sugar, ground black pepper, and sesame oil. Whisk well until sugar dissolves and set aside.
  2. Make the Cornstarch Slurry: Mix cornstarch with cold water until smooth. Set aside.
  3. Steam the Broccoli: In a large skillet, bring water to a boil. Add broccoli and a pinch of salt. Steam for 1 minute, then drain and set aside.
  4. Sauté the Mushrooms: Heat peanut oil in the skillet. Add mushrooms and sauté for 2-3 minutes until golden and slightly firm.
  5. Aromatics and Chili Peppers: Add chili peppers, garlic, and ginger to the skillet. Stir-fry for about 30 seconds.
  6. Combine the Vegetables: Fold in steamed broccoli and pour in the pre-mixed sauce. Toss everything together for 30 seconds.
  7. Thicken the Sauce: Stir cornstarch slurry before adding to the skillet. Stir continuously for 1-2 minutes until sauce thickens.
