Cooking Oil
  • 3 tablespoons Oil vegetable or olive oil

Equipment

  • Colander

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Start by bringing a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Carefully add the cut broccoli pieces and blanch them for 3 to 5 minutes until they are vibrant green and slightly tender. Once done, drain the broccoli thoroughly in a colander.
  2. In a large frying pan, heat 3 tablespoons of oil over medium heat. Add the bacon pieces and cook them for about 5 to 7 minutes or until they are crisp and golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove the bacon from the pan, letting the excess oil drip off, and set the bacon aside on a paper towel-lined plate.
  3. In the same pan with the remaining bacon grease, lower the heat slightly and add 4 to 5 chopped garlic cloves. Sauté for about 1 to 2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the garlic is golden and fragrant. In a separate bowl, whisk together ½ tablespoon soy sauce, 1 teaspoon oyster sauce, ½ tablespoon cornstarch, and ⅓ cup water, then set aside.
  4. Pour the prepared sauce mixture into the frying pan with the sautéed garlic. Stir for about 10 seconds as the sauce begins to thicken and bubble. Next, add the blanched broccoli back into the pan. Toss gently to ensure each piece is coated in the glossy garlic sauce infused with that delicious bacon flavor.
  5. Finally, sprinkle the crispy bacon bits over the broccoli and give everything a gentle toss to combine. Serve your vibrant Broccoli With Garlic Sauce & Bacon immediately.
